Herring tradition since 1594

Klädesholmen has been associated with herring for generations. As early as 1594, the island was described as an old fishing village, and during the great herring periods, Klädesholmen grew into a center for herring fishing, trade, and processing. The knowledge of how to care for and process the herring has since been passed down from generation to generation.

In the early 2000s, four traditional family businesses on Klädesholmen – PK, Bråse, Alax, and Klockbojen – merged to form Klädesholmen Seafood AB. Together, they combined their experiences and traditions under a common brand, with the ambition of preserving the old craftsmanship while allowing new flavors to take place.
